it is really a pleasure to announce that the Whale Conference is now being held for the second time and therefore become an annual event as was aimed at in the beginning. The conference is a joint project of the Whale Museum and the Research Center of the University of Iceland in Húsavík.
The goal of the conference is to present the research that is and has been conducted in Skjálfanda Bay and to strengthen the relationship between whale watching companies, the Whale Museum, the Research Center of the University of Iceland and scientists. Through this kind of cooperation and dialogue, the whale watching companies and the Whale Museum can share the latest information and increase the quality of the area as one of the best areas in the country to see and learn about whales.
Over the years, research has been carried out here in the bay and the results have not always translated into tires for the companies, so we would like to offer this platform to share information, learn and ask questions, but such a platform is also useful as a of the training of new guides and the retraining of older guides, where interesting information emerges and discussions could be created.
The conference will be held in the Hall of the Whale Museum on Tuesday evening, June 30, it will start at 19:30 and everyone is welcome. After it, light refreshments and a forum for questions and discussions are offered.
