Entangled whale freed in Alaska!

In Alaska, a group of experts managed to save a young humpback whale that got entangled in a large and heavy crab trap. The rescue mission, which took place on October 11, was called by local residents who had spotted the whale in distress near the town of Gustavus. Residents reported the whale's unusual behavior, including chasing two buoys and visibly struggling to move normally. The rescue team, including National Park staff and members of the organization Large Whale Entanglement Response, determined that the entanglement was life-threatening to the whale. The rescue team used drone footage to assess the situation and after several hours of work managed to free the whale by cutting the lines. The organization will monitor the condition of the whale for the next few weeks.
